18 Slow Sad Songs To Cry To
Sometimes we all need that special song to help us feel our emotions, and sometimes it’s really hard to find that catchy tune, so here’s a list of my personal favorite slow sad songs that could help. Here we go!
- Snow in Venice — Thomas Sanders (Cover)
Originally written by Elizaveta Khripounova, youtube personality, Thomas Sanders, beautifully captures the heartfelt loneliness of this song.
“Maybe my song isn’t happy enough but I, I see it take flight with the snowflakes above me.”
2. Agape — Bear’s Den
This alternative/indie track is all about the highest form of love, charity, named Agape. Andrew Davie’s perfect voice declares love and, with his vocals, begs for someone to heal his loneliness.
“For I’m so scared of losing you and I don’t know what I can do about it.”
3. My Future — Billie Eilish
First of all, I absolutely love Billie Eilish! Her voice is so incredibly captivating, and, with “My Future”, not only is it slow and pleasing, but relatable for anyone who has felt or is feeling alone.
“Can’t you hear me? I’m not comin’ home, do you understand? I’ve changed my plans.”
4. Not About Angels — Birdy
If you’ve seen The Fault in Our Stars, this song is added to the soundtrack around one of the most severe parts of the film. If you’ve ever lost someone important, this song is a must listen to.
“‘Cause what about, what about angels? They will come, they will go, make us special.”
5. I Can’t Make You Love Me — Bon Ivor
With piano and killer vocals, this song is bound to make you tear up if you’ve ever felt a pain truer than life.
“I can’t make you love me if you don’t. I can’t make your heart feel something it won’t.”
6. This is Home — Cavetown
Even though I’ve listened to this song a countless number of times, Cavetown’s voice just hits me right in the place that needs healing at the best times. Have a listen!
“Get a load of this monster, he doesn’t know how to communicate, his mind is in a different place, will everybody please give him a little bit of space.”
7. Tell Your Heart To Beat Again — Danny Gokey
If you’ve ever lost someone whether physically or mentally, this song is guaranteed to hit you in the feels. Warning…tears will be shed.
“Say goodbye to where you’ve been, and tell your heart to beat again.”
8. Tears in Heaven — Eric Clapton
Another great song about loss. Not only does Clapton’s voice ring out from mourning his son, Conor, but his amazing guitar riffs and fingerstyle picking also holds great grief.
“Would you know my name, if I saw you in Heaven? Would it be the same, if I saw you in Heaven?”
9. Collide — Howie Day
This song is a personal favorite, due to the loss of my father, and is exactly the song someone might be looking for if they feel alone and sad.
“Even the best fall down sometimes, even the wrong words seem to rhyme, out of the doubt that fills my mind, I somehow find you and I collide.”
10. SLOW DANCING IN THE DARK — Sammy Copley (Cover)
All I can say about this song is one word…perfect.
“Give me reasons we should be complete, you should be with him, I can’t compete, you looked at me like I was someone else, oh well.”
11. Moving On — Kodaline
The perfect song for that imperfect breakup. One way to remember the more enlightening memories is through this catchy tune.
“Sometime in the future maybe we can get together. Maybe share a drink and talk awhile. And reminisce about the days when we were still together, maybe someday further down the line.”
12. One More Light — Linkin Park
Full of sorrow, insight, and pain, One More Light is that perfect cuddle up and cry song that you need to let your emotions out.
“Who cares if one more light goes out in a sky of a million stars? It flickers, flickers.”
13. Wonderwall — Oasis
I know this song after hearing it from the Nexflix show “Everything Sucks” and Lil Peep stole the melody. Not only are the lyrics hardcore relatable, but you will also fall in love.
“And after all, you’re my Wonderwall.”
14. If I Could Fly — One Direction
Don’t judge this song just because it’s made by the old boy band. The first time I heard this song, my heart melted with every piano chord and octave.
“For your eyes only I’ll show you my heart, for when you’re lonely and forget who you are.”
15. Dark On Me — Starset
I believe this song is for the most broken and beaten souls. The lead vocal, Dustin Bates, sings of seeing pure dark and feeling alone. Proceed with an open heart.
“But I found in you what was lost in me, in a world so cold and empty.”
16. Dean Lewis — Waves
From the guy that sang the sad, chilling song “Be Alright,” Dean Lewis hits us even harder with metaphorical “waves”. Just let the tears fall, sis.
“But there is a light in the dark, and I feel its warmth in my hands and my heart, why can’t I hold on?”
17. You’re Somebody Else — Flora Cash
I first heard this song in the Netflix show “Locke & Key” and I immediately fell in love. Cole Randall’s voice is mesmerizing and tear-jerking, bringing out the hardest part of losing someone, letting go. Listen carefully!
“You were the better part, of every bit of beating heart that I had, whatever I had.”
18. First Date — Frad
Though there are no lyrics, this sad yet relaxing LoFi tune is incredible. People say LoFi is an account of imperfect notes strung together beautifully, but this song is filled with charm.
